Hi there! My name is Michelle. I'm 31 and live in Ohio with my fiance John and two furry kids. My interests are writing, music & movies, cooking, road trips, lots of coffee and cocktails. John and I became new homeowners this year and are getting ready to plan our wedding.

Imagine a Clever Title Here

Hiya. It’s Monday, day before Election Day, I’m on vacation, and it’s 76 degrees outside. Wait, what? Yeah. November 3rd, and it’s 76 degrees outside. I’m not wishing for blizzard conditions or anything, but this warmth and sun is raking my nerves. If I have to settle for one or two days of an actual Autumn, I think I’ll riot. Against whom, I have no idea. Mother Nature? Nah, lost cause. OK. So I’m taking a break from organizing and cleaning my office. It’s going well, but I got tired (lazy) and decided to sit down. So here I am.

I had to scrap the code for my new (now old) design and decided I need to start fresh again. Like I said before, it will be winter before I get the fall design up, so maybe I’ll just go straight to winter. At least I already have the graphics for it. Then again, we keep having warm weather like this, I could probably get away with the fall one, heh. Ooh, and I purchased the tag module so I’m eager to get that into place. My next big project (besides getting the new design and site changes live) will be to get my photos online. I don’t have a ton, but enough that I’d like to upgrade to Flickr Pro so I can have unlimited sets. I can be kind of OCD about organization, so it’ll feed that nicely. OK that’s all I’ve got. Need to recharge and keep going on this room. The kitchen is my next victim. Some vacation, huh?

Oh, just one more thing… Obama/Biden for the win.  wink

Random

I just got a call from my boss asking if I wanted to work a mid today instead of closing. Well hell yeah, who wouldn’t?! So I go in at noon and get off at 8 instead of being there til 10. Two more days and I’ll be on vacation, I can do this.

I’m having a lot of problems with my site right now. It will be winter by the time I get my fall design up. The css is giving me major headache for some reason. I know it’s something stupid and simple, it always is. Oh well, I’ll figure it out.

NaNoWriMo is coming up FAST. Like in two days. I haven’t signed up yet. Still not sure I want to. I probably will, since I like pain haha. We’ll see. OK, off to finish some laundry and get ready for work.

Congratulations, You Win

My best friend is getting married today. The term “best friend” struggles to find its place in my vocabulary these days, but when you get right down to it, that’s what he is. We’ve known each for years and I went to school with his older brother, so basically I grew up knowing the family. We work together now, and John is a groomsman in his wedding. It should be a wonderful day. I should be happy for him. But there’s a big selfish part of me that wants to tell him he’s making a mistake because so many people think she’s not right for him. But I can’t, because I don’t know that for a fact. Unfortunately, she’s never given me a chance to get to know her well enough to make that decision. I have to admit, I haven’t been a very good friend to him since he’s been with her. I’ve never voiced my opinion, but I’m sure he’s noticed how quiet I get and change the subject when he talks about her.

Beyond Words

I remember when it began (what feels like eons ago), but this is the first year I’ve volunteered and participated in the Boobie-Thon. It was an amazing experience, and I can’t wait to do it again next year. While I recorded donations throughout the event, some of the stories I read in the emails were so humbling. You sometimes forget how lucky you are until you read about the hard times of someone else.

Over the past seven years, the Boobie-Thon has raised over $50,000 in the fight against breast cancer. FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS people!!! That’s astounding. And for the next couple of months, life will be just a tad easier for a very deserving mom because of your generosity.

A HUGE shout out to Mel for running the show, as well as Robyn for creating the whole thing way back when. Thanks to the many volunteers, donors and participants. We all made this happen this year, and I’m extremely proud to have been a part of it!
